Expert guidance meeting for the winning projects of "BeiDou Little Stars are Acting" was successfully held
On the afternoon of May 25, the 12th annual China Satellite Navigation Conference - the expert guidance meeting for the winning projects of the "BeiDou Little Stars are Acting" was held at the Primus Hotel Nanchang International Expo City. This meeting was an important part of the "Science Popularization" section, one of the five special sections of the annual China Satellite Navigation Conference. The aim is to provide a platform for the winning students to meet with academicians, experts and enterprises, to enhance the theoretical level and application value of the works of the "BeiDou Little Stars", to encourage potential students to innovate independently, and to cultivate a reserve force for BeiDou project.
The meeting was chaired by Tang Shuangquan, Secretary General of the "BeiDou Cup" competition secretariat. The experts attending the meeting were academician Long Lehao of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Zheng Lizhong of the National Remote Sensing Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Researcher Cao Chong of the 22nd Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, Professor Guo Jingjun of Tsinghua University, Professor Chen Xiyuan of Southeast University, Nan Shunxian, Deputy Secretary General of ZGC Geospatial Information and Technology Alliance, General Manager Jin Cheng and Tian Yasu of Xi'an Hangguang Satellite Measurement and Control Technology Co. Wei Lilong, Human Resources Director of Shanghai Huace Navigation Technology Ltd. In addition, more than 90 participants attended the conference, including the winning students of the 12th BeiDou Cup Competition, the secretariats of the various regions of the competition, representatives of outstanding science and technology teachers, representatives of outstanding organization awards and representatives of teachers and students from participating schools.
At the conference, seven winning projects of the 12th "BeiDou Cup" competition were presented by outstanding contestants from various universities across the country, who reported on the creative concept and conceptualization process to the experts. These included BeiDou High Precision Deformation Monitoring System by Peng Haoran's team from Guilin University of Electronic and Technology; Design of Underwater Acoustic Passive Positioning System for Impact Points on the Sea based on Difference BeiDou and Double Cross Array by Wang Shizhe's team from the People's Liberation Army Naval Engineering University; High-precision UAV Swarm System based on BeiDou Differential Positioning by Zhang Zeyu's team from Southeast University; Smart Navigation Light based on BeiDou by Wei Meifen's team from Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University; Design and Implementation of Crop Refinement Operation Scheme based on BeiDou Navigation and Remote Sensing Image Processing by Chen Shuai’s team from Xidian University; BeiDou Smart "Traffic Police" for Military-civilian Dual-use in Sections with Frequent Accidents by Hou Lifang's team from the NCO School of Space Engineering University; and the project of Song Yuze's team from Shaoxing No.1 High School, "Tidal Wave" Intelligent Monitoring System for Bridge Safety based on BeiDou Spatio-Temporal Intelligent Host.
The students' winning projects generated a lively discussion and the experts at the conference also gave high praise and pertinent advice to the contestants. The experts gave direction to the students' creations from their personal practical experience, and suggested that the students should start from the practical application value of their innovations and actively participate in the production practice to carry out scientific and technological innovation according to their needs; they should enhance the relevance and purpose of their research, focus and make their projects deep and solid, hoping that these projects can be combined with the reality as soon as possible in the future and be implemented on the land of China. The representatives of the participating enterprises said that they would provide certain equipment support for the students' scientific and technological innovation and motivate them to take the path of combining industry, academia, and research.
On one hand, the students had a better understanding of science and innovation; on the other hand, they had the opportunity to meet with academicians and experts face to face, which allow them to check the gaps and have a clearer direction for their future. The students are very grateful to the organizers for this precious opportunity.
Finally, researcher Cao Chong made a concluding speech, saying that the projects presented here were the winners from this year's entries. He expressed three hopes: firstly, to strengthen the integration with demand and pursue more precise and better research and development; secondly, to strengthen the exploration of practical applications, to strengthen the integration between the market and enterprises, and to consciously promote applications; thirdly, to strengthen investigation and research, and to explore new applications and services.
