On May 28, 2021, the 12th China Satellite Navigation Conference S09 Session PNT Architectures and New PNT Technologies was successfully held. The Session was presided over by sub-session chairmen Prof. Deng Zhongliang from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and Researcher Wei Dongyan from Aerospace Information Innovation Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The Session carried out academic exchanges by focusing on concept, content, positioning and scope of PNT system and the evolution and integration of new theories, methods and technologies of PNT and traditional navigation means. The academic exchange activities were carried out in the form of invited presentations by famous experts and scholars, oral presentations of excellent papers and paper posting etc to explore the latest research results at home and abroad, focus on the innovation and applications of methods, discuss the shortcomings of existing technologies and seek possible breakthroughs and lead new research directions. The Session has provided necessary theoretical and technical support for further innovation of PNT systems and new PNT technologies and promoted the development of navigation industry in China. The session room was full of audience, attracting more than 100 participating experts and scholars.
During the Session, researchers from universities such as Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wuhan University, National University of Defense Technology, Army Engineering University of PLA, Naval University of Engineering and University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in Chengdu, and researchers from the industry such as from Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd, Qianxun SI Network Co., Ltd, China Electronics Technology Group Corporation and Xi’an Research Institute of Surveying and Mapping etc focused on the key technology applications in PNT systems, jointly and fully discussed the new theories, technologies and methods such as “inteagrated communication and navigation technology, 5G positioning, PNT system architecture, underwater PNT system and deep space positioning and navigation”and exchanged their ideas, so that domestic R&D personnel coule learn about international cutting-edge technologies and more people at home and abroad could understand the latest technologies in China and use multiple PNT-supported integratd navigation methods to provide users with more intact and more accurate location based services with better availability and to promote BDS to the international market. On the basis of full exchange and sharing of research results, the Session has broadened the thoughts on academic research and technological innovation, and vigorously promoted the development and improvement of China's BDS while effectively increasing the research level in this field.
