[H12 Forum] Jiangxi BeiDou Application Industry Forum (Provincial-level) was Successfully Held
On May 25, 2021, the 12th China Satellite Navigation Conference H12 Jiangxi BeiDou Application Industry Forum (Provincial-level) was successfully held in Nanchang. The Forum was divided into four parts: speeches by leaders, introduction of the development of BeiDou industry in Jiangxi Province and cities in Jiangxo, speeches by representatives of universities and enterprises in Jiangxi, and advice from academicians and experts. The speeches by leaders and the introduction of provincial-level and municipal-level BeiDou industry development were presided over by Comrade Tu Qiongli, Executive Deputy Director of Civil-Military Integration Development Commission Office of Jiangxi Provincial CPC, while the speeches of unisersities and enterprises and the comments of academician experts were presided over by Academician Lin Hui, Chairman of the Forum.
Yin Meigen, Member of Standing Committee of CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee and Executive Vice Governor of Jiangxi Province, indicated that Jiangxi had proposed that the total output value of the BeiDou industry in Jiangxi would exceed 100 billion yuan by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period. In order to achieve this beautiful goal and look forward to this beautiful prospects, he expected more support and help from central ministries and commissions, research institutes and people from all walks of life.

In the session of provincial-level and municipal-level BeiDou industry development introduction, Tu Qiongli, Executive Deputy Director of Civil-Military Integration Development Commission Office of Jiangxi Provincial CPC and Wan Guangming, Deputy Secretary of CPC Nanchang Municipal Committee and Mayor of Nanchang Municipal People's Government, introduced the development of BeiDou industry in Jiangxi Province and Nanchang City respectively.

In the presentation session, Academician Lin Hui, Chairman of the Forum, briefly introduced the highlights of achievements made by Jiangxi Normal University in BeiDou industry-academia-research-application integration, including the establishment of the first Beidou Soaring Academy in China and the joint laboratory with Guangzhou Hi-Target Navigation Tech Co.,Ltd, a leading company specializing in BDS-based high-precision positioning.

In his presentation “Some Thoughts on the Development of BeiDou Technology in Jiangxi”, Li Dajun, Dean of School of Surveying and Mapping Engineering of East China University of Technology, briefly introduced the existing research results of East China University of Technology in BeiDou and put forward several thoughts on the future development of BeiDou applications.

In his presentation, “Research on the Monitoring and Forecasting of Near Space Environment Based on BDS Satellites”, Vice President Deng Xiaohua of Nanchang University pointed out the urgent need for early warning and forecasting of near space environment using BDS satellites, and the upgrading amd R&D of this independent technology. The presentation first introduced the monitoring method based on BDS/GNSS, then elaborated on the feasibility of applying BDS-based guidance in hypersonic and re-entry aircrafts, and in the end introduced the dynamic precise positioning verification experiment and application based on BDS/GPS.

In his presentation “BeiDou + Inertial Navigation - Development and Application Prospects of a New Type of Gyro”, Vice President Chen Zhilong of Nanchang Institute of Technology introduced a new type of vibrating string gyro, which has the unique advantage of higher accuracy with smaller size and can be widely used in many fields of military and civil applications.

President Ai Qiang of Tellhow Creative Technology Group delivered a presentation entitled “BDS Helps VR/AR Military Landing Realization”, introducing the important selected positioning system and design ideas of Beidou+VR/AR military training system of Taihao in VR/AR technology landing military scenarios.

In his presentation, “Taking the Road of ‘BeiDou + Low Altitude Airspace’ Integration to Solve the Difficulties of Low Altitude Airspace Reform”, Mr. Sun He, Chairman of Jiangxi BeiDou Application Technology Co., Ltd, reviewed the history of low altitude airspace reform in China, analyzed the difficulties of low altitude airspace reform, discussed the main approaches to solving the problems of low altitude surveillance, highlighted the characteristics and advantages of BDS-based surveillance technology, and focused on the special practices of Jiangxi taking the road of “BeiDou + Low Altitude Airspace” integration in low altitude airspace management reform.

In the presentation “Exploration and Practices of Smart Industry Applications Based on BDS-based Data Center”, General Manager Wang Zhaojun of Jiangxi Aerospace Pohu Cloud Technology Co., Ltd introduced the explorations and practices in smart industry applications such as energy security, smart mines and marine fishery based on BDS-based data center, with the integration of big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and other technologies by Jiangxi Aerospace Pohu Cloud Technology Co., Ltd.

Xie Ronghua, President of Jiangxi Beidou Power Conversion Technology Co., Ltd made a presentation entitled “BeiDou Technology Empowers the Intelligence for Building New Energy Development Patterns”, which comprehensively introduced how Jiangxi Beidou Power Transformation Technology Co., Ltd used Beidou technology to work together with the digital power grid to put a smart brain on the smart equipment of the power grid!

In the end, in the roundtable session of the Forum, Ouyang Ziyuan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Liu Jingnan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Lv Daren, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xiao Longxu, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Lin Hui, Academician of International Eurasian Academy of Sciences and Academician of Academy of Social Sciences, United Kingdom, Yang Changfeng, Chief Designer of BDS, Shen Xuhui, Chief Scientist of “Zhangheng-1” China Electromagnetic Monitoring Satellite Program, and Han Shaowei, Director of Wuhan Navigation & LBS, focused on the theme of "Beidou Space and Time, Empowering Jiangxi", and had a lively discussion on the integration of BeiDou industry, academia, research and application to serve the society. Many academicians and experts spoke highly of the special practices of Deng Xiaohua's team of Nanchang University for its BDS satellite-based early warning and forecasting technology for the near space environment, Chen Zhilong's team of Nanchang Institute of Technology for its new vibrating string gyro, and Jiangxi BeiDou Application Technology Co., Ltd’s special approach of “BeiDou+Low Altitude Airspace” integration. The academicians and experts expressed their hope that Jiangxi would take advantage of the major opportunities of the BDS global network to carry out in-depth demonstration of the regional comprehensive applications of BDS, actively explore the special mode of BDS-based “military-civilian integration” in Jiangxi, and contribute to the development of BeiDou industry in Jiangxi in the new era.
