The 12th China Satellite Navigation Conference Held in Nanchang
The 100-year journey has been quite magnificent, with the original intention of the great work of a thousand years remaining unchanged.
This year marks the centenary of the founding of the CPC. Therefore ,the 12th China Satellite Navigation Conference was held from May 26 to 28 in Nanchang, Jiangxi, the birthplace of the first people's army of independently led by the CPC and the heroic city of the revolutions, which was also the first annual conference held after BDS started providing global services and entered the new stage of the 14th Five-Year Plan period. With the theme of “Spatio-temporal Data, Empowers Bright Future”, this year's Conference aims to follow the development trend of contemporary technological revolutions, outline the visions and expectations for BDS applications in the future society, comprehensively demonstrate the importance of satellite navigation spatio-temporal services to future development, promote the in-depth integration of BDS with various fields and enable all parties to join hands to draw a bright future for the development of BDS.
This year's annual conference has set up 5 sections of activities such as summit forums, academic exchanges, high-end forums, China Satellite Navigation Expo and popular science activities etc, attracting a total of more than 3,000 representatives to attend. Top experts, scholars and industrial talents in the field of satellite navigation fully discussed and conducted exchanges by focusing on the current situation, dynamics and trends of the development of the satellite navigation industry, gained insight into the future of the application and industrialization development and discussed together the satellite navigation development plans, so as to promote the vigorous development of the satellite navigation industry.
During this year's Conference, representatives from satellite navigation system authorities of China, the United States, Russia, the European Union, Japan and other countries and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs will introduce the latest progress of their respective satellite navigation systems and the work carried out by the United Nations in the field of satellite navigation. Famous experts and scholars in satellite navigation and other related fields at home and abroad will comprehensively discuss the integrated innovative applications and future development of BDS by focusing on “science and technology” and “application and industrialization” and fully explore the huge potential of spatio-temporal data in the information era.
The year 2021 is an extraordinary year for both China and BDS. Standing at the historical intersection of the “two centenary” goals, BDS, which has undergone 27 years of construction and development, has stepped into the ranks of the world's top-ranking satellite navigation systems with powerful functions and advanced performance and has witnessed the accelerated promotion and application of its various characteristic services. At present, BDS has been fully applied in transportation, public security, disaster relief and mitigation, agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, urban governance and other industries and has been integrated into the construction of infrastructure of national key areas such as communication, finance, electric power and water conservancy and has been integrated into mass consumer electronic products rapidly to people's lives, making the mass applications of BDS a reality.The “integration of BDS and platforms, data, technologies and terminals” have become a new mode of application of BDS in combination with other new technologies. The emergence of new BDS application styles and forms has continuously injected new vitality and momentum into economic and social development, which empowers various industries to upgrade their quality.
Based on the theme of the Conference, the background of the opening of the 14th Five-Year Plan period and the centenary of the founding of the CPC and current focus of the development of the satellite navigation industry, this year's Conference carefully planned a series of special activities, such as the comprehensive exhibition entitled “Continuing to Strive and Empowering the Future”, Policies, Regulations, Standards and Intellectual Properties Forum and BeiDou Publicity Forum.
The comprehensive characteristic exhibition “Continuing to Strive and Empowering the Future”showcases the extraordinary development of BDS and its ability to offer first-class services under the strong leadership of the CPC as well as the role played by BDS as a major national spatio-temporal infrastructure and cornerstone in national economic construction and social development. For the first time, a large number of BDS-based integrated applications have been exhibited in the Comprehensive Exhibition Area,showcasing the integration of BDS with emerging technologies such as IoT, autonomous driving, AI and 5G communication and demonstrating new application businesses and industries that have emerged.
Policies, Regulations, Standards and Intellectual Properties Forum has invited representatives of relevant departments and industry experts to discuss and exchange views on BDS-related rule of law issues and discuss rule of law solutions such as short message services and high-precision location services. BeiDou Publicity Forum is focused on building the BeiDou brand and has invited national publicity authorities, relevant media and universities to discuss how to help BDS stride towards a new stage of globalization and industrialization, promote the application of BDS and strengthen the influence of BDS.
During the Conference, many high-end forums will be held, including BDS Application and Industrialization Forum, BeiDou Industry Park Development Forum, BeiDou + Educational Forum, BeiDou Application Development Forum for State-owned Enterprises, Forum on Development of Navigation Communication Integrated with Remote Sensing, BeiDou + Intelligent Ecology Forum, BeiDou + Manned Spaceflight Forum, BeiDou and New Infrastructure Forum, BeiDou Aviation Application Forum and Jiangxi BeiDou Application Industry Forum and academic exchanges related to professional topics of satellite navigation industry applications, satellite navigation for public applications, satellite navigation system and enhancement, satellite orbit and precise positioning, time datum and precise timing, autonomous navigation and intelligent operation, navigation signals and signal processing, satellite navigation terminal users and PNT system and PNT new technology etc will be conducted.
In order to enable the Conference to better conduct academic evaluations, encourage scholars in the field of navigation at home and abroad to actively participate in the cause of navigation and promote the globalization and application of BDS, the “BeiDou Award” specially established by Scientific Committee of the Conference as well as a number of awards in academic, application and popular science categories will be awarded during the Conference. The 12th China Satellite Navigation Expo will be held at the same time to comprehensively showcase the achievements of BDS construction and application and industrial development through enterprise interaction, academic interaction, talent interaction and mass interaction.
The construction and development of BDS will not be halted, the boundaries of BDS applications will continue to broken and BDS’ unswerving pursuit to serve the community with shared future for mankind will continue. Adhering to the development concept of “China's BeiDou, the world's BeiDou and first-class BeiDou”, China will also build a more ubiquitous, integrated and intelligent national comprehensive positioning, navigation and timing system by 2035 and a spatio-temporal information service infrastructure covering the sky, earth and sea, with unified benchmarks, high accuracy, high security, high intelligence, high flexibility and high efficiency. The spacetime is imaginative and the future is more promising.
