"Jointly Promoting the Establishment of the Independent Innovation Platform for National Integrated Positioning, Navigation and Timing System" Initiative Release
On 26 May, the 12th annual China Satellite Navigation Conference was held in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. During the conference, the initiative of "jointly promoting the establishment of the independent innovation platform for national integrated positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) system" was successfully introduced. Nine institutes and cooperates collectively released the initiative: China Satellite Navigation Project Center, Navigation and Spatio-Temporal Technology Engineering Research Center of the National University of Defense Technology, General Department of Communications and Navigation Satellite of the Fifth Institute and Satellite Navigation System Engineering Center of the Ninth Research Institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, Aerospace Information Innovation Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Innovation Academy for Microsatellites, State Key Laboratory of Satellite Navigation System and Equipment Technology of the 54th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation,BeiDou Applied Research Institute of China North Industries Group, and Satellite Navigation and Positioning Technology Research Center of Wuhan University.
The initiative proposes that the BeiDou system has entered a new era of global development and that a more pervasive, integrated and intelligent national integrated PNT system will be built in the future. This requires the further pooling of resources, talents, innovation and common development. Therefore, the initiative promotes the establishment of a "National Integrated PNT System Independent Innovation Platform", building the desired environment for technology sharing, innovation, R&D, and talent think tank in the field of PNT. The initiative encourages technical cooperation, resource sharing, collaborative development mechanism, independent innovation, and scientific and technological breakthroughs. It also continuously promotes the construction and development of a national integrated PNT system with BeiDou as its core. The platform will be built into a major national science and technology innovation center, contributing to a strong science and technology nation.
